             MAINTENANCE OF INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
                     FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
   
   I.   REFERENCE:
   
        UCSB Policies Manual, Policy 5515, Facilities Management.
   
   II.  POLICY:
   
        A.   Facilities Assigned to Instructional Development:
   
        1.   The maintenance of all buildings, including floors, walls,
             windows, utilities and general structure is the responsibility
             of Facilities Management, in accordance with Policy 5515.
             Facilities Management will be responsible for the maintenance
             of Instructional Development buildings, including Buchanan
             Hall, Campbell Hall and Kerr Hall except in those areas
             designated as high security and where access is restricted. In
             such areas, it will be the responsibility of the Instructional
             Development staff assigned to such areas to maintain these
             areas on a day-to-day basis. When rooms, walls, floors and
             windows deteriorate in upkeep, the assigned staff will request
             a special work crew to maintain the area.
        
        2.   Repair requirements for the replacement of lights and other
             utilities, broken windows, doors and necessary repairing will
             be the responsibility of Facilities Management as part of their
             general building responsibilities.
   
        B.   Audio Visual Equipment Which is Assigned to Departments Other
             than Instructional Development:
   
             Maintenance of audio-visual type equipment (including but not
             limited to: projectors, slide projectors, and associated
             peripherals, overhead projectors, opaque projectors, audio and
             videotape recorders, TV monitors, audio amplifiers,
             microphones, Apple computers and peripherals) which appears on
             department's and research inventories will be conducted by the
             Instructional Development Engineering Maintenance area. The
             costs of such maintenance will be recharged at current rates to
             the department to which the item is assigned.
