                    PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS
   
   I.   REFERENCE:
   
        A.   Vice President McCorkle's memo to Chancellors, et al., dated
             August 25, 1971.
   
   II.  POLICY:
   
        The preparation of manuscripts (e.g., typing, illustrating, and
        proofreading) resulting from scholarly research may be authorized by
        department chairmen, within the resources available to them and
        provided such services do not interfere with the normal operation of
        the department.
        
        The cost of preparing manuscripts resulting from work funded by
        extramural contracts or grants shall be charged to the extramural
        project whenever possible.
        
        No student theses or dissertations shall be prepared at University
        expense, nor shall University resources be used in the preparation
        of term papers. (Cost of education allowances are considered
        University funds and therefore cannot be used for the preparation of
        dissertations, etc.)
